DESIGNING TO FIT THE VISION

Don’t Forget To Have Fun!

Let’s assume that after much deliberation you have decided to move forward with an Interior Design project.  Whether the prospective Interior design project you have in mind is Commercial or Residential, the way you move forward at the start – your mental set, so to speak – is going to influence the entire project process and progress!  (If that sounds like a tongue twister, then it’s right up there with some of the typical twists and turns encountered in any Interior design project worth it’s salt!)

I can’t overstate how important it is to begin with personal confidence, reasonable financial preparation, trust in the professional Interior design team you select -- and a realistic understanding of the facts and circumstances that can (and probably will) impact your project path.

So, where’s the fun part?   Hopefully, that part will prevail throughout; but, before I stick my neck out about “fun,” let’s go over some points and take a look at the expectations on both sides of the equation.

Before you begin to begin, be sure you can afford the scope – and idiosyncrasies -- of the Interior design project you have in mind!   To determine affordability, preliminary projections must be determined.  That happens when you and your prospective Interior design team work together to assess the proposed parameters of the project as you envision it.   The team has the experience necessary to give you realistic projections; but that’s not all of it!

Like a whimsical piece of art in progress -- that seems to be disconnected – your project is in good hands and will come together! Try to relax and join the Fun!

Interviewing Your Prospective Expert

2/13/2017

How do you know which perfect stranger is the expert you want to bring into your Interior Design vision and ideas, receive your fees, help you sort through hundreds of choices, guide you in serious decisions and learn your idiosyncrasies up close and personal?  Well...you don’t.

That’s why it is very important to get the facts about getting the facts.   You need to know how to interview prospective Interior design professionals, what to ask about what you need to know, how to research references and how to evaluate the relevancy of any prospective Interior designer to your particular project profile.

Referrals are very, very valuable.  A recommendation that comes from someone who had a good experience and is very pleased with the finished project is worth its weight.  However, it’s a good idea not to stop there.  With a solid referral in mind, you are surely headed in a good direction, and can confidently move forward (with that referral) to the next important factors to consider.

Sit down, pull the facts together and do your front-end homework! Creating the right associative mix is worth the time it takes.
