Undoubtedly, our contemporary society is mobile! For some of you that flexibility (plus some wanderlust) extends to a second home, cabin, campsite or condo tucked away in a favorite geo-corner where you like to take your R & R! Having your own special site by the sea, in the mountains, by the desert or on the water can insure your vacations or mini-getaways deliver exactly what you want and need.
Not everyone likes to “rough it” as a vacation! It’s great for those who do, but some fancy a second personal environment that provides contrast to their primary living space, yet is also a bona fide “home.” Perhaps that environment provides access to some special activities, or, just a vista quite different than their primary home; or, brings them tranquility that rivals their urban location. Some simply want another nest somewhere that renews the spirit, connects with the natural world and offers a break from the rat race!
While there are commercial facilities almost everywhere these days, there is a huge difference in having just the spot you envision, put together just the way you want it, always available and suiting you and your family’s specific choices.
Your Interior Design Team knows the difference between the everyday needs and requirements of a primary residence, and the desired simplicity of laid-back, customized, getaway possibilities. The circumstances and the appropriate solutions are different for each location; and that contrast – managed right – delivers the clients’ expectations.
A huge part of achieving the break one needs, lies in what a vacation or getaway environment delivers – through the messages it sends with colors, materials, finishes and mood control. One way to describe what many seek in a getaway environment might be a simplicity that contrasts the complexity of one’s everyday patterns.
While it may seem otherwise, achieving simplicity can be more of a challenge than one might think at first consideration! Where is the line drawn between what we rely on for those eleven months of one’s “regular’ life patterns, and what is really needed for the scaled down respite one deserves for “vacation?”
Do we take it all with us anyway -- and just pretend we are taking a break? Or can we create a true contrast in an alternate environment, that reflects us accurately, yet does not mirror the very aspects from which we need a break!
Cozy cabin tucked into the forest or slick condo on the cliffs near the sea –be sure it really transports you to what we all need from time to time – space from stress and food for the soul!
Maybe you are one who likes the whole enchilada packed into a motor home, trailer or pop-up camper unit that widens the road even more, as you take it all with you to multiple destinations! And, in its particular way, that’s great, too. Those cozy portable environments can also be customized to suit your taste, to suit special circumstances (such as a disability), and to deliver the vacation interlude you have in mind.
Think it through: Is your form of get away really getting you away? If not, help is on the way!
